UPCleaner, it must be said, is short for Ultimate PC Cleaner. Now that you know that, I’m sure it will come as no surprise when I tell you that UPCleaner can scan your PC, find junk that wastes storage space, and remove said junk. What may come as a surprise though is that UPCleaner can do a few other things: apply tweaks to boost performance, protect your browser, and test your internet connection.

Download an installer, run it, follow the instructions presented by a setup wizard. These are the standard steps you must go through to install an application on a PC that runs Microsoft’s Windows operating system. They’re also the steps you must go through to install UPCleaner on your Windows-powered PC.

There are 4 buttons down at the bottom on UPCleaner’s interface:
PC Boost – applies tweaks that boost your PC’s performance, try advanced optimization to increase startup and computer speed.
Clean – scan for junk files and remove them. That includes Registry items, browser junk files, usage history, and system junk files.
Browser Protection – lock your default browser, default homepage, and default search engine.
Internet Speed Test – test your internet connection’s download speed.

Alongside this interface, UPCleaner puts a floating window (a.k.a. widget) on your desktop. This floating window displays your PC’s memory usage and presents real-time information about your uploads and downloads. From this floating window you can clean your PC and test your internet speed. The floating window provides support for skins.

Whenever you want to close UPCleaner, you’ll be presented with a prompt that says “your PC will run slow after exiting UPCleaner.” This prompt lets you exit UPCleaner or enable DO NOT DISTURB Mode.

UPCleaner is free software. At the time of writing this, it is a Beta.

Clean your PC to free up storage space, tweak it so it starts faster and runs smoother, test its internet connection, and protect its browser. All these are nicely covered by UPCleaner.

Pros

Installing UPCleaner on a Windows PC is an effortless task. The interface is easy to figure out and supports multiple languages; the floating window is just as easy to use and it provides support for skins. Use UPCleaner to scan for and remove junk files, to optimize and boost your PC’s performance, to test its internet connection, and to lock your default browser, homepage, and search engine. Use the floating window to easily clean your PC or test its internet speed. UPCleaner features a “DO NOT DISTURB” mode.

Cons

At the time of writing this, UPCleaner is a Beta. After clicking “Boost Now”, UPCleaner tells you that it applied some tweaks but it doesn’t provide more in-depth information on what sort of tweaks it applied.
